5/3/2020 Pet First Aid Course

Walkies Dog Walking is now First Aid Accredited!

We are thrilled to tell you that Paul is now a accredited first aid dog walker! This is a step up from the first aid certification he previously held.

On Saturday 29th February 2020, Paul attended the Pet Fur-st Aid course, held at Probus Village Hall, and facilitated by Jo Claydon of Take Me Out Dog Walking and Pet Fur-st Aid https://takemeoutdogwalking.co.uk/

The course covered all aspects of being a pet first aider - the knowledge needed in an emergency should the worst happen while your pet is out with us on its walk. There are many steps we can do which will help with your pet’s eventual recovery while we seek proper medical help from the vet.

Paul had a reminder on how to deal with cuts and grazes and how to bandage legs, paws, and ears; snake bites (we have adders here in the UK); what to do in the event of breaks in bones; how to treat insect bites. He also practiced in detail how to perform CPR and resuscitation on dogs and cats in a useful exercise with some willing model dogs.

At the end of the course, Paul participated in a short exam to ensure he understood everything that had been covered. We are pleased to say he did and now has a certificate of accreditation.

The course is accredited by Procourses  https://www.procourses.co.uk/ and has given Paul a Level 2 VTQ (Vocational Training Qualification)
